WP Stage 1 — Wayside Performance Custom ECU Calibration
The Astra J VXR is one of the best-value performance cars on the used market, and the A20NFT engine under the bonnet is one of the strongest reasons why.
Producing 276hp and 295ft/lb from the factory, it's already a potent unit — but Vauxhall's standard calibration leaves a significant amount of performance untapped, and our WP Stage 1 remap is the most effective single modification you can make to unlock it.
We've been tuning the A20NFT for years and have mapped hundreds of these cars. Our Stage 1 calibration has been developed and refined extensively on our in-house rolling road — carefully optimising boost pressure, ignition timing, fuelling and air-fuel ratios to safely extract everything the stock turbo has to offer without hardware changes.
The result is a tune that feels completely at home in daily use, with power delivery that's smooth and progressive right through the rev range.
Expect figures in the region of 305-320hp and 365-385ft/lb of torque — gains of around 30-45hp and a transformation in mid-range torque that makes the car feel like a completely different machine.

No hardware is mandatory for Stage 1, but we'd strongly recommend addressing the spark plugs and recirculation valve alongside the remap — both are common failure points at increased boost levels and are cheap to sort.
An induction kit is also advised to give the turbo the airflow it'll be asking for, and sets the car up nicely for Stage 2 in the future.
Every WP Stage 1 installation is carried out at our workshop by our experienced technicians and includes a before and after dyno run with a printed power graph.

- Uprated spark plugs (recommended)
- Forge Motorsport recirculation valve (recommended)
- Induction kit (recommended)
