Press Release
The BMW 3 Series has always been the benchmark sports saloon and the all-new G20 generation is building on the success of its predecessor, the F30. The range topping M340i follows the traditional BMW formula, by teaming an excellent dynamic chassis with a powerful straight-6 engine.
The B58 3.0L 6 cylinder engine is one of the most capable engines currently in production, producing 369BHP, and is mated to BMW's excellent xDrive all-wheel drive system, propelling the sports saloon from a standstill to 62MPH in just 4.4 seconds. This makes the M340i an extremely entertaining package, however emissions regulations have resulted in the introduction of a GPF (Gasoline Particulate Filter), which limits the aural potential of the glorious straight-6 powerplant.
For those looking to awaken the sound and unlock the performance of their vehicle, Cobra Sport has the solution with their newly released GPF Back performance exhaust range, with setups to suit all M340i owners needs.
For those who want to add style and stand out from the crowd, Cobra Sport offer their quad exit GPF-back system - with quad 4" (101.6mm) tailpipes slash cut highly polished stainless-steel tailpipes and for those looking to take the style upgrade a stage further, upgraded carbon fibre tailpipes are available.
The quad exit systems are available with either a single exhaust valve or Cobra Sport's unique twin-valved setup. The single valved setup utilises Cobra Sport's race rear silencer, which is designed to deliver optimal exhaust sound and tones in all drive modes, offering the biggest upgrade in terms of sound and styling, recording 65.9dB (+7.6dB) at idle and 88.1dB (+6.2dB) at 4000RPM, allowing the straight-6 to truly sing, delivering the emotional connection that M Performance customers expect from the factory.
The twin valved quad exit performance exhaust system features a larger rear silencer and is teamed with two exhaust valves, giving the M340i a jekyll and hyde personality, in comfort mode with the exhaust valves closed the exhaust is refined - allowing the driver to eat up miles in total tranquillity. Switch to sport mode and the exhaust valves open, and you are audibly reminded that this is no ordinary 3 Series, but one which houses a powerful straight-6 powerplant. The twin valved quad exit performance exhaust recorded 61.7dB (+3.4dB) at idle and 87.8dB (+5.9dB) at 4000RPM.
For those who want added audible emotion with ninja like sleeper styling, Cobra Sport offers their GPF-Back system to OEM exhaust outlets. This performance exhaust setup features the race rear silencer and single exhaust valve setup, offering a significantly improved 6 cylinder soundtrack over standard, whilst keeping the factory styling.
